Modal verbs হলো বিশেষ ধরনের সহায়ক ক্রিয়া যা মূল ক্রিয়ার সাথে ব্যবহার করে সম্ভাবনা, অনুমতি, বাধ্যবাধকতা বা প্রস্তাব প্রকাশ করে। বাংলায় এর অর্থ হলো “মোডাল ক্রিয়ার ব্যবহার।”
Modal verbs এবং তাদের ব্যবহার:
Can → সক্ষমতা বা অনুমতি
Could → অতীত সক্ষমতা বা শিষ্ট অনুমতি
May → সম্ভাবনা বা অনুমতি
Might → কম সম্ভাবনা
Must → বাধ্যবাধকতা বা নিশ্চয়তা
Should → পরামর্শ বা প্রয়োজনীয়তা
Would → ভবিষ্যৎ বা শিষ্ট প্রস্তাব

He must be tired after work. → কাজের পরে সে ক্লান্ত হয়েছে নিশ্চয়।

You should eat healthy food. → তোমাকে স্বাস্থ্যকর খাবার খেতে হবে।
She should study more. → তাকে আরও পড়াশোনা করা উচিত।

I couldn’t find my keys. → আমি আমার চাবি খুঁজে পাইনি।
She couldn’t answer the question. → সে প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিতে পারলো না।
They couldn’t attend the class. → তারা ক্লাসে উপস্থিত থাকতে পারলো না।
He couldn’t finish on time. → সে সময়মতো শেষ করতে পারলো না।
We couldn’t hear the announcement. → আমরা ঘোষণা শুনতে পারিনি।
